Paleobiocenotic analys of benthonic foraminifera of the upper cretaceous of the Sergipe Basin by means of the Braun-Blanquet method
Abstract
This study presents the results of a success full application of the Braun-Blanquet similarity method, as adapted by Hiltermann & Tüxen Jr. (1974) for the ecological evaluation of foraminiferal assemblages, to a research project carried out at Che Research Center (CENPES) of PETROBRAS, Rio de Janeira Seven major benthonic foraminiferal assemblages have been identified in four well sections from the São Francisco low area, Sergipe basin, northeastern Brazil, and these have been used to determine the paleoenvironmental evolution of the area from the Santonian to the-Maastrichtian.
